Why Notebooks Are Having a Moment – and Why I Think Every Crafter Needs One in Their Life
Share
I’ve always believed there’s something a bit magical about a notebook.
Whether it’s for jotting down a pattern idea, sketching out a colour scheme, or just scribbling a reminder on a busy day, a notebook is far more than just paper. It’s a companion. A safe space for creativity, a visual record of our messy, beautiful, ever-growing lives as makers.
In recent years, I’ve noticed more and more people turning back to pen and paper. Maybe it’s a reaction to the constant hum of digital life, or maybe we’re simply craving the tactile joy of things we can hold and treasure. Either way, I’m not surprised – notebooks are back in style, and I, for one, am thrilled.
If you’re new here, I’m Gloria, I am an avid crocheter, self-taught pattern designer and an unapologetic stationery enthusiast. I design notebooks that are made specifically with crafters and creatives in mind. Each cover design is digitally handcrafted by me, using a blend of traditional art and digital tools that still honour the soul of yarn textiles.
I wanted to share a bit more about why I think notebooks are having a revival, and why the ones I make might just be what you (or your craft-loving friend) never knew you needed.
The Return of the Notebook
We live in a world of notifications, voice notes, endless to-do apps, and cloud-synced calendars. And yet, there’s a real hunger for something slower, softer, more meaningful. I see it in the crafting world all the time, people craving moments of calm, a pause, a bit of peace in their day.
A notebook gives you that.
It doesn’t buzz. It doesn’t send reminders. It doesn’t crash halfway through your thoughts. It simply holds your ideas, patiently and quietly, for whenever you’re ready to return to them.
There’s something grounding about writing by hand. It helps us focus, think more clearly, and connect to our creativity in a way typing just doesn’t match. It’s a small act of mindfulness in a very noisy world.
A Crafter Designing For Crafters
I started designing notebooks because I couldn’t find one that truly worked for the way I think and create as a crocheter. The layouts were too formal and the covers, well, they didn’t feel like me. You know what I mean?
So I decided to make my own.
As a crocheter, I’m always tuned into texture, colour, balance, and flow – and I bring that same mindset to my notebook designs. Every cover is created digitally by hand, keeping my process as organic as possible. Each notebook is designed to feel personal, like it could only have been made by a fellow maker.
The idea isn’t perfection – it’s warmth, soul and joy. I want you to pick it up and feel inspired, whether you’re logging your yarn stash, planning a new project, or just scribbling some thoughts over a cuppa.
Why My Notebooks Are Different. Let me walk you through what makes my notebooks a bit special, especially for crafters and stationery lovers:
✿ Designed by a Crafter (That’s Me!)
Because I’ve spent recent years wrapped in yarn and surrounded by project bags, there’s room for sketching, dot-grid spacing for bullet-style notes or pattern writing, and pages thick enough to take pen, pencil, or even the odd highlighter or fine liner without bleeding through.
These aren’t generic office supplies. These are tools for creative people.
✿ Digital Handcrafting – the Best of Both Worlds
I use a tablet to design and I’m always drawn to design elements that feel nostalgic or comforting – like vintage embroidery patterns, the soft pastels of yarn cakes, botanical prints, or even the colour of my favourite stitch markers. If you’re a maker, chances are my notebooks will feel like home.
✿ Made to Be Used, Not Just Admired
Yes, I want my notebooks to be beautiful. But I also want you to use them. Toss them in your project bag. Scribble half-finished ideas. Doodle while you're on hold. They’re made for real, everyday creativity.
What You’ll Find Inside
Here’s what most of my notebooks include:

Why Every Crafter Needs a Notebook
If you’re like me, your brain is always whirring with ideas: “What if I tried that in a DK yarn?”, “How many balls of that grey do I have left?”, “Ooh, that would make a lovely border stitch.”
Having a notebook on hand means you don’t lose those sparks. It’s a creative anchor.
And it’s not just practical – it’s emotional, too. Flipping through an old notebook full of past projects is like leafing through a photo album. You see how far you’ve come. You remember what you made during tough times, joyful times, long rainy weekends. It’s a beautiful way to track your journey.
For the Love of Stationery
Even if you’re not a crafter (though if you are, you’re in the right place!), my notebooks make lovely companions for journaling, lists, planning, or general life scribbles. They also make brilliant gifts for that one friend who’s obsessed with paper goods and can never leave a shop without “just one more” notebook.
If you’re a stationery lover, you’ll appreciate:
-
Unique, hand-drawn covers you won’t see anywhere else
-
The feel of quality paper under your pen
-
Limited edition designs for collectors
-
The joy of supporting a small creative business
